Nancy Mayans has been training actors in professional classes and private practice since 1980. She has also coached numerous actors on their auditions and roles for television, film and stage. (see client list and testimonials). As a dialect coach for both stage and feature films, she has worked with such actors as Gretchen Mol, Tom Conti, Jorge Sanz, Emmanuelle Chriqui, and Alfred Molina. She has been hired by MTV, HBO, and PBS as an acting and speech coach. Ms. Mayans has taught at the Yale School of Drama, Carnegie Mellon, Trinity Repertory Conservatory, Columbia University, NYU, Rutgers Mason Gross School of the Arts, and several New York acting studios. She is currently teaching Voice, Speech, and Classical Text at the William Esper Studio in New York City while maintaining her coaching and healing practice.

As an actress/singer Ms. Mayans has performed internationally with Julie Taymor’s Obie award-winning Juan Darien. She has played roles ranging from Carlotta in Phantom of the Opera to Masha in The Seagull. She has also acted with the Public Theater, the Manhattan Theatre Club in New York, the Yale Repertory Theatre in New Haven, and the American Repertory Theatre in Boston, where she is a founding member. She is currently a member of Actors' Equity Association and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.

Nancy Mayans has directed at Carnegie Mellon, the Riverside Shakespeare Company, Millbrook Playhouse, Bristol Valley Theater, and numerous New York showcase theatres. Shows range from Oscar Wilde’s classic The Importance of Being Earnest, to Sondheim’s musical A Little Night Music, to Alan Ball’s comedy Five Women Wearing the Same Dress.

Nancy Mayans received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama from Stanford (Phi Beta Kappa) and a Masters of Fine Arts in Acting from Yale. She also studied singing at Stanford and the Yale School of Music. After moving to New York City she continued private singing lessons and training at various acting studios between acting jobs. She has been trained in the acting techniques of Stella Adler, Lee Strasberg, and Sandy Meisner. As a Voice and Speech specialist she was trained in the techniques of Cicely Berry, Evangeline Machlin, Kristin Linklater and Edith Skinner.

As an energy healer, Nancy has studied with Barbara Brennan, Dr. Frank Alper, Dr. Gerry Jampolsky, Sanaya Roman, Duane Packer, and Dr. Patricia Fields among others. She is a Certified Healer, Spiritual Counselor, Light Body Graduate, Reiki Master and Theta Healing Practitioner. Nancy has studied many healing modalities, including Subpersonality Reprogramming, Inner Child Healing, Core Belief Clearing, Imprinting, Chakra Balancing, Attitudinal Healing, Sound Healing, Brain Kinesiology, Manifesting, Radiance, Miraculous Healing and Quantum Healing.
